How to Make This Oven Baked Apple Recipe:

Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Go ahead and wash your apples so they are nice and clean before you begin cooking.

Use an apple corer to remove the apple’s core, including all the seeds. You don’t need to scoop all the way to the bottom of the apple, just scoop out enough to get the apple seeds and core out. This will create a bowl/well in the center of the apple.

Next, use a knife to create the “blooming” look on the apple. There are several ways you can achieve this, and the recipe card does a great job of explaining the step-by-step of that.

Place the apples in a casserole dish; dip and scoop a big old spoonful of caramel sauce into the apple. Make the brown sugar glaze mixture and spoon it onto the apples.

Bake the Baked Blooming Apples until they are done. Keep in mind that every apple does cook differently and for various times!Oven Baked Bloomin Apples - My Incredible Recipes (5)What to serve with Bloomin Apples

Now, this is the fun part! After the apples are done baking to perfection, you may be wondering what to serve with such deliciousness! These can absolutely be eaten all on their own but my favorite way to serve Bloomin Apples is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, more caramel sauce, and a sprinkle of cinnamon on top! Oh, and don’t forget the extra napkins because this will get messy!

Oven Baked Bloomin Apples - My Incredible Recipes (6)How to Store

You can store these in the refrigerator for a few days after baking, but they are best eaten fresh. If you have some leftovers, heat them in the microwave for 35-45 seconds before eating.

My kids always love it when I make this baked apple treat, and I have to admit that I love it just as much as they do! It’s the perfect fall dessert and I know you’ll love it, too.

Ingredients

  • 4 Honeycrisp apples
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • Extra toppings: Vanilla ice cream cinnamon
  • and caramel sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375F

  • Wash and pat dry your apples, then cut the top off each one. (about 1/4 way down from top)

  • Next, use an apple corer to remove the core of the apple, including the seeds. Be careful not to cut all the way down to the bottom and through the apple, just scoop out enough to remove the core and seeds, leaving a well in the center of the apple.

  • Using a small, sharp knife, cut two concentric circles into the apple around the well to begin creating the “bloomin onion look.”

  • Make sure to go deep into the apple without slicing completely through it.

  • Then turn the apple over, cut side down and start about 1/2 inch down from the top cutting 1/2 inch slits all the way around the apple.

  • Place each apple in a casserole dish cut side up, then spoon in a tablespoon of caramel sauce into the center (the well) of each apple.

  • Melt your butter in the microwave for 40-45 seconds, or until completely melted. Then stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until they are completely dissolved into the butter and create a thick glaze.

  • Spoon the glaze evenly over each apple.

  • Then bake for 25-30 minutes until the apples are soft. (Every type of apple cooks differently based on the size and variety so make sure to check your apples around the 25 minute mark and cook until done.

  • Serve warm with ice cream, cinnamon and leftover caramel sauce!
